Backcourt Violation, ball is passed from frontcourt to backcourt Backcourt Violation, ball is passed from frontcourt to player with backcourt status Backcourt Violation, ball is passed from frontcourt to player with backcourt status
“This is an example of a Backcourt violation. The offensive player, Taj Gibson, receives the pass from his teammate, Frank Ntilikina, who had established legal frontcourt position. Since Gibson had not yet established frontcourt status when he received the pass, this is a violation. If a player establishes positive position in the frontcourt, a pass to his teammate in the backcourt causes a backcourt violation. Note that once a player establishes position in his frontcourt, he cannot move into his backcourt, nor may he pass the ball to a teammate positioned in the backcourt.”
