“This is an example of a Non-Basketball move where an offensive player abnormally extends part of his body outside his normal motion to shoot into a defender. The offensive player, James Harden, takes a jump shot, and he extends his right leg out in an overt manner, initiating marginal contact with the defender, Malcolm Brogdon. Since this is only marginal contact, this is a not an offensive foul, and instead it is a ‘play on’ situation. If the contact initiated by the offensive player was more than marginal and the defender was taken out of normal play, then an offensive foul would be the ruling.”
