Defensive foul, defender makes contact with airborne shooter Defensive foul, defender doesn’t allow shooter room to land Defensive foul, defender doesn’t allow shooter room to land
“This is an example of a defensive foul for moving into the landing space of an airborne shooter. Ben McLemore, the defensive player who challenges the jump shot, extends his right foot into the legs of the shooter, Chris Paul, and he contacts the shooter’s right leg, causing him to fall to the floor. Defenders must give airborne shooters the opportunity to land safely. Whether intentional or not, this is a dangerous play, and it will be penalized. Note also that if the defender’s movement is deemed to be reckless, a Flagrant foul may be assessed.”
