Legal play, Defender legally contests 3-pointer, then moves foot to avoid contact shooter’s landing space Defensive Foul, Defender makes lower body contact with shooter Defensive Foul, Defender makes lower body contact with shooter
“This is an example of a defensive foul for moving into the landing space of an airborne shooter. The defensive player, Kevin Durant, challenges the jump shot, and he makes leg-to-leg contact with the shooter, Kyle Kuzma. Defenders must give airborne shooters the opportunity to land safely. But as the closeout by the defender here was not reckless, and the shooter does not land on the foot of defender, this is a defensive foul, and it is not a Flagrant Foul.”
