“This is an example of a jump ball violation committed by a participating jumper. The jumper in the black uniform, Jaren Jackson Jr., legally taps the toss, but he then catches the ball in mid-air before any other player makes contact with it. This is a violation, as the ball must be touched by another player before either jump ball participant can touch it. Following the violation, the ball would be awarded to the opposing team at the sideline nearest the spot of the violation, and the ball must be inbounded into the new frontcourt.”
