Legal play, Defender stays parallel to driver, does not initiate illegal contact Legal play, Defender stays parallel to driver, does not initiate illegal contact Defensive Foul, Defender moves forward into driver’s path
“This is an example of legal contact between a driving offensive player and the defender. The defensive player, Isaac Okoro, maintains his defensive positioning by staying parallel to the driving offensive player, Tyrese Maxey, and the defender does not create any contact that would move the dribbler off his path. Contact that affects a dribbler’s speed, quickness, rhythm, and balance as he drives toward the basket is illegal, but contact alone does not constitute a defensive foul. There is no defensive foul on this play, and it is a ‘play on’ situation.”
