Legal play, gather and then takes 2 steps Legal play, gather and then takes 2 steps Travel on Drive, too many steps after gather
“This is an example of a player legally gathering the ball to end his dribble and then taking two legal steps before releasing the ball on his shot attempt. The offensive player, Gary Harris, gathers the ball with his left foot on the floor. That foot does not count toward his allowable step limit. He then takes two legal steps, stepping with his right foot, and then his left foot, before releasing the ball on his shot attempt. This is a legal example. A progressing player may take two legal steps after gathering the ball to either shoot, pass or to come to a stop.”
