Legal Screen, set in transition, screener does give room to avoid contact Illegal Screen, Pick’n Roll, screener extends arms & knee and makes contact
“This is an example of a legal screen, with the screen set on a moving defensive player. The offensive player setting the screen, Nicolo Melli, establishes a legal screening position in the path of the moving defender, Royce O’Neale. The screener does give that defender the opportunity to avoid contact. But as the defender is unaware of the screener’s position, hard contact occurs, and while the contact knocks the defender to the floor, it’s important to note that this was a legally set screen, and there is no foul on this play.”
