“This is an example of a traveling violation after a player has gathered the ball. The offensive player, Zach LaVine, will take three steps after ending his dribble and gathering the ball. He gathers the ball with his right foot down on the floor, this step does not count towards the limit. But he then steps with his left foot, then his right foot, and then his left foot once again. This is a traveling violation. A progressing player may only take two legal steps after gathering the ball, to either shoot, pass or to come to a stop.”
