Unnatural Act – Flagrant Foul, Penalty 2 (Unnatural kick to opponent’s groin)

This is an example of an Unnatural act that would be reviewed as a Hostile Act, and ruled a Flagrant Foul, Penalty 2. A Flagrant Foul, Penalty 2 is defined as contact that is unnecessary AND excessive. The offensive player unnaturally extends his leg on this play and unnecessarily and excessively contacts his opponent’s groin area. This is a non-basketball play by the offensive player, and there is high potential for injury as well. The penalty for a Flagrant 2 is two free throws for the offended player, and his team would also retain possession of the ball. The offending player would also be ejected from the game, pending confirmation of the call via Instant Replay review.
