Flagrant Foul, Penalty 2, hit to opponent’s groin Flagrant Foul, Penalty 2, violent swing and hard contact to opponent’s head Hard Foul, Non Flagrant, offensive player’s shot attempt hits opponent’s face
“This is an example of a Flagrant Foul, Penalty 2. The defensive player, Bobby Portis, winds up and makes hard contact to the head of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the airborne offensive player, in a dangerous manner. This is deemed excessive contact made on a vulnerable player with a high potential for injury. A Flagrant Foul, Penalty 2 is defined as contact that is unnecessary and excessive. The penalty for a Flagrant 2 is two free throws for the offended player, his team would retain possession of the ball, and the offending player is ejected from the game. Note also that any called foul that could potentially be ruled flagrant, will be reviewed via Instant Replay, to determine if it is a Flagrant 1, a Flagrant 2, a Technical Foul, or a common foul.”
